Some individuals go on vacation to relax, while others go on vacation to learn. If you can firmly state that you fall into the latter group, it’s time to add Morocco to your bucket list. Morocco, a Northern African country, not only boasts of some beautiful sights to see, but it also introduces you to a culture and way of life seen in just a few locations today.

If you’re planning a vacation to Morocco anytime soon, don’t miss out on seeing these incredible landmarks. All of these attractions are undoubtedly the greatest in Morocco to visit.

One beautiful attraction is the Erg Chebbi’s Dunes. To observe the Sahara dune fields of Morocco, travel east of the High Atlas spine to the far eastern desert region near the Algerian border.

Erg Chebbi is the most popular sand dune attraction in the world. Dune surfing, four-wheel-drive dune bashing, and sunrise and sunset camel trekking are all popular activities here, which are generally paired with an overnight stay in a tented desert camp right in the middle of the dune field. It’s worth the long drive just to sit among the sand dune magnificence and gaze up at the star-filled Sahara sky at night.

Another beautiful tourist attraction is Ait Ben Haddou. This golden-stoned adobe ksar (fortified town) rises sharply from the ground amid breathtaking countryside. It’s a fairy-tale setting, and due to its surreal splendor, the orange-hued turrets and meandering passageways inside have become a favorite film backdrop for Hollywood. If you want the whole Ait Ben Haddou experience, you may even sleep in the ksar, though those who wish to their creature comforts should be warned that there is no electricity within the mudbrick walls.

Further, Essaouira is another beautiful site in Morocco. The laid-back beach town of Essaouira, which became one of Morocco’s most popular hippie hangouts in the 1970s, is the country’s most attractive seaside town. Today, the town retains a sliver of its bohemian history, and it is one of Morocco’s artistic hotspots, with a strong local art scene.

The major attraction for visitors is Essaouira’s fortified seaside medina. Tiny art galleries, boutiques, and a thriving contemporary café and restaurant scene, as well as classic souq shopping, can be found within the city’s twisting lanes. There are also wonderful beach walks to outlying settlements and beach surfing for those who want to do some more active sightseeing.

The Rif mountains are another beautiful site in morocco. These Mountains give some lush green reprieve from the jagged peaks bordered by palm groves and arid plains that characterize most of Morocco’s highland beauty.

This is a great chance for hikers, bicyclists, and day walkers to go out into nature, with lots of paths for both expert trekkers and those looking for a quick, simple trip.

Tetouan and Chefchaouen are the two primary starting points for a Rif Mountains journey. Travel through Talassemtane National Park’s cedar and fir forest-covered mountain sides and beautiful gorges and valleys to get the most of this region’s natural splendor.

In addition, visit Draa valley for a better experience in Morocco. This valley, which connects the southeastern extremity of the High Atlas Mountains to the desert beyond, is ideal for architectural and history enthusiasts. The drive to Zagora is surrounded by palm tree oasis and dotted with wonderfully maintained mudbrick kasbahs and ksour, which are fascinating to visit.

It’s a terrific destination for a road trip, with stops in villages along the way to take in the scenery and explore the kasbahs’ shady, dimly lit tunnels. Check to see the Kasbah des Caids in Tamnougalt, which has been featured in several Hollywood films, as well as Timidarte hamlet, where the ksar architecture has been beautifully preserved.
